Introducing the Meraki Travel hotels

What makes a Meraki Travel hotel?

At Meraki Travel, we've used our travel expertise and in-destination specialists to trawl through endless lists of hotels, pick the best, and categorise them into easy to pick from accommodation levels - from standard, to characterful and premium properties, right the way through to all out luxury. We take pride in being selective, perhaps even picky when it comes to choosing our hotels. Being picky is good for us and its good for you too – here’s why:

Location, location, location

Hotel selection begins with choosing the right location. In a city, we may look at trendy neighbourhoods packed with chic bars and cool eateries, journey times to the airport or convenience of local attractions. In a coastal spot we scope out the best beaches and in safari parks we factor in exclusivity, journey times and quality of wildlife viewings.

Special features

We only choose hotels that we know will make your holiday special. As well as a good location, we look at the room types, decor, service and special features. Couples will always have a double room with a private en-suite and the interiors we feature range from ultra-mod, to art deco, to cosy & snug and traditional. Attentive service is essential, and many of our properties are independent and run by locals. We've looked for hotels with good on-site amenities – think roof top bars, spacious gardens, spas, swimming pools, fitness centres and tasty dining options.

Highly rated

Every hotel on our website has been handpicked based on extensive research, hotel visits and recommendations from our partners and customers - which means you can be confident that any hotel booked through Meraki Travel will come up to standard. And because we know you'll check the reviews on TripAdvisor – we already have - and all of our hotels rank highly.

Accommodation levels

Depending on the country you've selected, our hotels have been categorised into three or four different accommodation levels. These take into consideration our personal recommendations, price point, star ratings and hotel features.

Here is a sample of each level:

Standard Hotels

Standard is our lead in category and is included in all base itineraries as a starting point. They are all well located and offer excellent service at a reasonable price. If it's value you're after and you don’t need to be pampered then our Standard accommodation is the best choice for you.

Lakesong Hotel – Kumarakom, India

The Lakesong Hotel is located among the scenic backwaters of Kumarakom, India. The traditional cottages offer home-from-home comforts with luxurious touches and views of the lush surroundings. When you’re not admiring the scenery, unwind with a rejuvenating treatment at the spa, work out at the gym or make use of the indoor sport courts. If it’s outdoor activities you’re after, swim a few laps in the pool, enjoy a leisurely boat cruise or explore the local village and plantations. The hotel restaurants cater to every taste, serving both local and international dishes.

Character/Boutique Hotels

These tend to be small, quirky, independent properties. They may not have all the facilities of an 'international' hotel but they are packed with charm and originality. This is the best choice for those looking for a more intimate hotel experience.

Ocean's Eleven - Hermanus, South Africa

The Ocean's Eleven Luxury Guest House is a great example of our Boutique category. Located in Hermanus, Ocean's Eleven has just 11 rooms - hence the name. Overlooking Hermanus’ famous seafront cliff path, you'll have views of Walker Bay and a chance of spotting whales without leaving the property. This hotel is all about intimacy and personal service, and the clincher is the small but chic pool and terrace with superb views across the bay.

Premium / Superior Hotels

If you want to treat yourself and ensure a hotel meets your expectations then Premium is the right choice for you. Premium properties tend to be some of the best and most well-known hotels in town, with reputations built on service and quality.  You'll likely be familiar with some of our choices - think Hyatt and Shangri-La for example.

Langham - Hong Kong, China

Located in Tsim Sha Tsui, the Langham Hong Kong oozes luxury and elegance. After a busy day exploring the city, go for a swim in the heated pool, restore your mind and body at the exquisite wellness sanctuary or listen to live music at the Palm Court. Dining at the hotel is a unique experience - savour authentic Cantonese cuisine in the three Michelin-starred T’ang Court, try a mouth-watering fusion of Asian and western food at the Food Gallery or taste succulent seafood dishes at Bostonian Seafood & Grill. Rooms are bright and airy with large windows and marble bathrooms with spacious bath tubs.

Luxury / Deluxe Hotels

Many of our luxury hotels are a destination in themselves - a landmark in the community. Some famous names among them, our luxury properties are often 'the' place to stay and welcome a myriad of celebs, royals and high society through their doors. Everything has been thought of and nothing is too much trouble; in fact they're so good you may not want to leave.

Umaid Bhawan Palace - Jodhpur, India

The Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur is an architectural wonder with panoramic views across the iconic Blue City. The palace is an exquisite relic of Rajasthan’s heritage and is constructed from the same palm court marble as the Taj Mahal. The theme of luxury extends to the ‘Palace’ rooms, each of which are elegantly-appointed and equipped with modern amenities to ensure you enjoy a comfortable and convenient stay. Feel every bit the royal guest as you sip champagne at breakfast, unwind at the Jiva Spa, and drink in the breathtaking scenery.
