Though it can be tempting to make a beeline for the surrounding countryside, no trip to Gullin is complete without seeing some of the city’s attractions. Visit Elephant Trunk Hill, an unusual hill formation which resembles an elephant drinking from the river, or marvel at the spectacular stalactites and stalagmites of Reed Flute Cave. Spend some time strolling around the city’s two lakes, take a snap of the Sun and Moon Twin Pagodas and taste some of the delicious local cuisine at the street markets (don’t miss the famous Guilin rice noodles).
For many, the highlight of a trip to Guilin is a boat cruise along the Li River. Sit back, relax and enjoy views of the rolling mountains, grazing buffaloes and fishmen on bamboo rafts. Stop off at the idyllic town of Yangshuo, known for its wonderful views of the hills and river. If you really want to immerse yourself in the fairytale scenery, there are numerous cycling and walking paths winding through the less-trodden countryside. There’s also the chance to visit a traditional Gaotian village and watch a spectacular nighttime Liu San Jie light show against the backdrop of the mist-shrouded mountains and river.
If you're all about the views, Guilin is the one for you. Don't forget to add our exciting experiences to make your holiday even better.
